CMC for Ceramic

CMC can be applied to the ceramic body and the glaze slip. As a good  thickener it can increase the plasticity of sediment materials to facilitate the forming of ceramic body, and enhance the breaking strength of flakes. CMC used in the glaze slip and fancy glaze which can be as the adhesive agents and take effects of suspension, deflocculation and water retention.

1. The function of CMC in the ceramic body:

* No residue after burning.

* Strong suspension and dispersion. It can prevent coagulation of barren raw materials’ particles.

* Strong resistance to mechanical abrasion. Less damage in the molecular chain during milling and mechanical stirring, so as to enhance the adhesion of the ceramic body, improve the forming rate of ceramic body, reduce the rate of breakage of the ceramic body.

2. The function of CMC in the ceramic glaze slip:

* Effectively increase the surface tension of the glaze slip, enhance the water retention of glaze slip, prevent water from spreading to ceramic body, increase the smoothness of the surface of ceramic body.

* Adjust the viscosity of glaze slip to create good rheology for easy glazing.

* Improve the combined performance of glaze slip and the strength of the glaze to prevent the glaze off.

* Make the high delicate and stable of the glaze.
